Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ gets axed after two seasons

NetflixAfter its first season gets critically panned and the second seeming to do better, Marvel’s Iron Fist won’t be coming back for a third season to redeem itself. Netflix and Marvel released a joint statement that the show will not be coming back for a third season. The statement said, “Marvel's Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we've shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

Iron Fist was part of a five-show deal between Marvel and Netflix that includes shows Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and The Defenders. The Punisher was later added to the lineup as a Daredevil spinoff. The cancellation comes on the heels of Disney planning to launch its direct-to-consumer streaming platform that will compete against Netflix. Disney has already announced its plans to pull all Marvel feature films from the streaming service but will keep the Marvel TV shows on until these run their course.

‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ returns for season 2 on Netflix starting September 7th

Love it or hate it, it’s coming back. Marvel announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Iron Fist is returning for its second season starting September 7^th. A new teaser for the series shows Danny Rand (played by Finn Jones) fighting in New York. He seems to be up some big enemies (or enemy) and finds that it’s his duty to protect what he considers his new home.

How non-comic book fans find their way to Netflix’s Marvel shows

With The Defenders fresh out of Netflix’s and Marvel’s oven, the streaming service is giving us a bit of an insight on how even non-comic book fans are getting hooked into the Marvel shows. Their biggest aide? Netflix’s algorithm. According to Netflix, 80 percent of show discovery on the service is through Netflix recommendations. ‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ gets first trailer

Just before the new Netflix Marvel show hits the service on March 17, we get a look of what we can expect from Marvel’s Iron Fist. The first full trailer for the series introduces Danny Rand (Finn Jones) to us who is on a mission to reclaim his family’s company in New York City after being away for 15 years. And for those like me who are uninitiated about the lore of Iron Fist, we wonder why he’s been away for so long and what brings him back with a grasp of mystical martial arts. While we don’t know the conditions, what we do know is Rand’s story ties into the other Netflix Marvel shows Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones.
