Twitter reportedly in talks to buy Flipboard

We’re not quite sure what Twitter might want with Flipboard but there are talks that they want to purchase it. According to Re/Code, Twitter wants to buy Flipboard in an all-stock deal that would put Flipboard’s value over US$1 billion. Talks have begun at the start of the year supposedly. And it’s headed by Twitter’s CFO Anthony Noto.

Perhaps Twitter aims for Flipboard’s curation tools or even the advertising the news curator does. If there’s any truth to the reports, then we’d have to wait for a bit to hear from either or both companies.

Google tipped to include fingerprint authentication to Android ‘M’

With Google I/O less than a week away, rumours have been going around that Google plans to unveil the latest iteration of its mobile operating system Android M at the developer’s conference. One of the reports claim that Google plans to integrate native fingerprint authentication into the OS. So, if you use an Android M device, it’ll have a built-in fingerprint reader. This will help out device manufacturers who want to make use of the technology for their upcoming devices even if they don’t have a history of making fingerprint readers. We just have to wait a bit to see if there is any truth to these rumours.

Google rumoured to be building Internet of Things OS

Rumours are going around that Google plans to enter the Internet of Things space with an operating system of their own. Called “Brillo,” the OS will reportedly only need as little as 32MB or 64MB of RAM to function, which is a departure from the 512MB needed by Android.

If there is any truth behind these rumours, this will help out OEMs who no longer need to design IoT communication schemes. This will also give Google a great position as backbone of the future smart homes. Next week’s I/O Developers Conference should clarify if there’s any truth to these reports.

Google reportedly plans to test out ‘Buy’ button in search results

Google is looking to take on Amazon and other retail giants with a new feature they’ll reportedly integrate in their search engine. According to The Wall Street Journal, Google plans to add a “Buy” button to sponsored search results of certain products. The company will be acting as a bridge for retailers and customers. They won’t be selling the products per se. When you click on the Buy button it’ll take you to the product page where you can make the purchase in hopes of cutting down time you need to search for a particular product.

They’re reportedly talking with Macy’s to be part of the launch of this feature. The Buy feature is said to be limited to sponsored results and it’ll initially be available to mobile and won’t be seen on desktop just yet.
