Sharp tipped to be spinning off smartphone LCD business

Demonstrating just how tough it is to survive in the mobile business, Sharp will reportedly spin off its smartphone LCD division to help keep the company afloat. The move will reportedly be made in the current fiscal year, maybe around next March. The announcement will reportedly be made before Sharp announces its restructuring plans in  May. The company won't give confirmation about the plans just yet but they are saying that they are still considering reorganization options.

Sharp introduces new AQUOS BOARD interactive displays

If you work in the creative field or need more tools for collaboration, Sharp has introduced at new line of interactive displays for boardrooms and even video conferences. The AQUOS BOARD allows for up to 10 points of contact and up to four people writing simultaneously on the screen using either their fingers or the Sharp touch pens. It can push content directly to connected mobile devices and a faster touch response rate of up to 200 times per second for nearly zero delay as possible. There is also an anti-glare film that helps reduce reflections and glare and minimize fingerprint marks on the board.

The AQUOS BOARD is available in 70-inch and 60-inch and has to two configurations users can choose depending on their requirements. The PN-L703B and PN-L603B are open-platform models that need an external PC. This will allow users to run any Microsoft Windows-based applications on the AQUOS BOARD. Meanwhile, the PN-L703A and PN-L603A come equipped with Sharp Pen Software and Touch Display Link 2 functionality so users will no longer need an external PC to operate the device. The PN-L703B and PN-L603B are currently available at authorized Sharp distributors and dealers, while the PN-L703A and PN-L603A will be available in the summer of 2014.

The Pro's and Con's of: buying a "Smart TV"

Last week I posted about my time using a monstrous 80" Smart TV from Sharp and it had me thinking: rather than regurgitating my work, site to site, why not take some of my posts on other sites and turn them into something creative here? Starting today, I am going to write a quick, easy to use, pros and cons post focused on emerging and innovative technologies that I get to spend time with.  Something you can use as a cheat sheet; print it out and take with you the next time you're shopping for said product.

Sharp introduces THX 4K-certified UHD TV to Canada

It’s not enough that the new Sharp television features Ultra High-Definition 4K resolution, the new AQUOS UHD LED TV is also THX 4K certified. The 70-inch screen comes with Sharp Revelation 4K upscaler, six-speaker sound system with DuoBass dual subwoofers, and built-in Wi-Fi. The AQUOS UHD will start shipping this month with a suggested retail price of $7,999.99.
