Review: Under Armour HealthBox

Under Armour is a leading maker of performance sports clothing and shoes but has also a stake in various health tracking and fitness apps having purchased MapMyFitness, Endomondo and MyFitnessPal and the company has brought all the key features of those apps into the UA Record app which is designed to connect to the Under Armour HealthBox system.

The UA HealthBox system is the most comprehensive and user-focused set of tools that merges an app, fitness tracking technology and connected devices with big data and cloud computing. It is composed of hardware built by HTC including the UA Band, the UA Scale and the UA Heart Rate monitor.

The Apple Beat: Pressure mounts on Apple to make iPhone 7 truly great

“Skate to where the puck is going to be, not to where it has been,” that’s a quote by the Great One, Wayne Gretzky, which Steve Jobs referenced during the momentous launch of the original iPhone in 2007.

Jobs continued by saying, “we try to understand as we develop our product road map, what’s going to be exciting in the future. And that’s one of the advantages we have over our competitors. Our competitors tend to put the cross hairs on where we are now, and by the time they come up with a product that tries to match where we are now, we’re beyond them. We’re one or two generations beyond, moving faster than they are.”

That was the spirit of innovation that powered the Apple engine and that’s what made the iPhone such an audacious, brave and, in hindsight, timely invention. But the world has changed and while Apple is still the most valuable company, the pressure is on to see if it is still the most innovative.

HTC wants to claim its piece of the VR headset space with the Re Vive

HTC has teamed up with Valve to create its Virtual Reality headset called the Re Vive. The vive is worn on the head much like the Oculus Rift and it comes later this year. HTC says the Vive will have immersive audio and video which, unlike competing products, will not leave user's feeling sick or disoriented.  Gaming seems to be the focus of HTC's VR headset although it is partering with various cultural and content companies to create new immersive experiences for the device.

HTC America just released a rap video

Innovating more than just the mobile space with their often excellent but under appreciated mobile devices, HTC showing some hustle and flow marketing its brand with the above video titled "Doc G's HTC Anthem "Hold the Crown" w/ David Bruce. The video itself feels rather low budget but is a fun thing to watch. It praises HTC's features while throwing shade at rival smartphones. If you like the song enough, download it here.
