LG’s Knock Code to be available on select smartphones

LG wants to secure the way you open your device with the upcoming rollout of the Knock Code feature. It builds on the Knock On feature introduced in the G2 and G Flex and lets users unlock their devices by tapping a preset code in various quadrants of the device’s screen. The feature will be available starting April on the G2, G Flex, G Pro 2, G2 mini, F Series, and L Series III.

LG introduces Smart Bulb, light fixture that can connect with Android and iOS devices

LG aims to take on the Philips Hue with its new Smart Bulb (yes that is its name). The light bulb can reportedly last for a decade if it is just used for five hours a day. It comes with compatible Android and iOS apps and features Bluetooth support. The app is designed to help users control different settings, including a play mode that responds to music and a security mode that imitates someone being at home with a lighting sequence. Android version even has the bulb blinking to remind you when you get a call. The Smart Bulb is currently only available in Korea for 35,000 won or roughly US$32.

LG Canada's Dealer Show reveals focus on 4K, webOS HDTVs and wearables

LG Canada showcased its recent products, many of which haven't been seen outside of CES 2014. The focus this year was more affordable 4K HDTV's, the newly-acquired webOS SmartTV operating system, IPS panels of LED HDTVs and various lifestyle and wearable products.

LG's 4K HDTV range encompasses some newer IPS sets as well as the truly innovative OLED 4K HDTVs that also offer curved design. LG says that unlike other companies' curved screen technologies, curved screens are a natural application of OLED technology. The best news is that LG is bullish about making 4K HDTVs more affordable while maintaining the highest quality standards and features that users look for the most.
